Pitti Uomo

Pitti Immagine Uomo is the most important international exhibition platform for men’s clothing and accessories collections and for the launch of new projects on men’s fashion. Pitti Immagine Uomo represents the most important event for Pitti Immagine. Every year it is organized every six months and has a worldwide relevance for men’s fashion.

Initially Pitti Uomo was held in the central pavilion of the event at Fortezza da Basso; instead, it began to change its characteristics, with the arrival of Marco Rivetti in 1987, which allowed Pitti Uomo to become a more important event. In the following years the project to give more international visibility to the fair was supported by the entrepreneur Fabio Inghirami, Gianfranco Bartolini and the former Mayor of Florence Massimo Bogianckino.

One of the very first innovations at Pitti Uomo was of a cultural and communication nature, with the involvement of the city’s artistic venues in a series of events dedicated to fashion culture. From this moment on, the program dedicated to exhibitions also began: in 1990 the exhibition dedicated to Roberto Capucci was inaugurated, in 1991 the one dedicated to Jean-Paul Gaultier and so on.

The last Pitti held in January 2020 registered 1,200 exhibitors, 21,400 buyers, including more than 8,300 foreign ones, a size that only Pitti Uomo can boast worldwide. The ranking of the 20 most important markets of Pitti Uomo: Germany, Japan, Holland, United Kingdom, Spain, Turkey, France, Switzerland, Belgium, United States, Russia, Korea, China, Austria, Greece, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, China-Hong Kong.
