One of the most innovative Portuguese tanneries, established by António Nunes de Carvalho, in 1939, is driven today by the third generation of the family, who oversee the two production plants: António Nunes de Carvalho, S. A. and Couro Azul, S. A.

Fully aware of the fact that our quality of life increasingly depends on safeguarding the environment, Gruppo Carvalhos introduced an environmental policy many years ago, with the aim of reducing waste and constantly improving environmental performance.

In line with this philosophy, Gruppo Carvalhos has developed its own range of completely ecological OakLeather products, which take two key factors into consideration: the ‘product’ (chrome and heavy metal- free, biodegradable, recyclable and hypoallergenic) and the ‘production process’ (recycling of waste waters, the disposal of solid refuse, combined with industrial pre-treatment processes, water-based finishes, the reduction of gas emissions, and strict respect for environmental law with regard to sound pollution).
